Collier Schools Extended School Year Wrap Up!

The Extended School Year Programs of Collier High School, Middle School, Kateri, & Transitions programs capped off another successful summer of joy, growth, & fulfillment. Here are just a few of the many achievements from our programs this summer!

Collier Middle School
- No Bake Tuesday, where CMS students whip up treats and entertain their taste buds!
- Themed trips like Painting @ The Park, where students expressed themselves through art on a trip to Holmdel Park to exercise, relax, and explore nature together. 
- Students launched high-flying rockets in the sky, as one of their many hands-on, engaging science labs
- Transformed the APR into an immersive planetarium for students to learn about space

Collier High School
- Welcomed 29 freshmen and 7 new CHS students
- Partnerships with the Monmouth County Parks, Henry Hudson Rail Trail, Clean Ocean Action, & Two Sisters Farms
- Learning to become part of the wider community
- Wellness students, with 30 hours of workouts, gained confidence to work out in public
- JETs restored the pergola behind the HS, built 4 new planter boxes for the courtyard, two new potting benches for Achieve, & a new Hydroponics table for Ms. Chevalier
- Maintained courtyards and various landscaping around campus
- Went out of their comfort zone to try new activities & prioritized inclusion

Kateri
- Prepared lunches for those in need at the food bank, giving back to the community 
- Learning new skills like cooking & grocery shopping
- Trips like Keansburg Waterpark & beach outings, where students bonded, overcame fears, & had fun in the sun
- Collected messages from fellow staff to combine into a "jar of well wishes" for those transitioning out of Kateri

Transitions
- Secured jobs, attended & applied to college courses, & prepared for the future
- Staff assisted with job applications to help youth secure jobs, some for the first time
- Rides to & from work and college, & so much more to ensure our youth are prepared for their next chapter

Thank you to our wonderful Collier staff members for leading the way to a successful summer. We are so proud of our 140+ Collier youth who made this another amazing ESY!
