Knights of Columbus Help Collier Start Caramore Farm

Knights of ColumbusWe couldn’t have asked for a nicer Saturday or a nicer group of volunteers! We were fortunate to have the Knights of Columbus from St. Gabriel’s church in Marlboro come and help clean and prepare one of our greenhouses so that Farmer Kristin can start seeding for Caramore Farm.

This amazing group of 15 volunteers cleared out desks, tools, pipes, and more and didn’t stop there. Once the greenhouse was empty, they moved 12 seeding tables (built by Collier’s Building Trades students) in. Volunteers also inventoried tools and organized 2 sheds. “The shed being cleaned out and organized is such a huge help in making sure I have the right tools for the job and know exactly where they are,” stated anKnights of Columbus ecstatic Farmer Kristin. “And the greenhouse looks even better than I had hoped! Thank you for all your hard work in helping to get Caramore Farm started—you have made my work easier. I can’t wait to get planting!”

Additionally, the Knights of Columbus left a lasting impression on our students. By coming to Collier over the weekend and working hard, our students saw that following Monday that there are people in the community who care for them and want them to succeed—they care enough to spend part of their day off and help create a clean, Knights of Columbushealthy environment for them to learn, to relax, to heal, and to grow. It is this type of impact that fosters a positive change in students and helps set them on a path to success.
