Kateri Day Camp Camperships
"Kateri Day Camp is not like any other camp -- it's like a second home. You never want to leave and when you do, you almost immediately become home sick for it."
-- Former Kateri Day Camp Camper & Current Counselor
Since 1977, Kateri Day Camp has been a critical component of Collier’s mission by offering a traditional summer camp experience to approximately 175- 200 low-income children traveling to Collier from as many as 25 Monmouth County towns.
Camperships enable children to attend a full summer of camp free of charge to low-income families who struggle to find affordable, dependable childcare that is safe and supervised. Camperships cover seven weeks of camp tuition, on-site activities, off-site field trips, swim lessons, healthy meals, and round-trip transportation. This consistency of our seven week program is crucial to children’s academic enrichment, developmental skills, emotional security, and personal safety—many areas that our campers struggle with due to living in poverty.
Kateri Day Camp fills the summer with experiential learning opportunities by engaging campers in hands-on learning through nature hikes, frogging in our pond, arts and crafts, baking, and physical pursuits such as yoga, Frisbee golf, and field games. With the exception of visits to the reading room, campers spend their day outside using Collier’s 260-acre wooded campus as their personal playground.
Help us continue to provide a safe and wholesome summer experience to our underprivileged children by sponsoring a child for a day, a week, or a whole summer of camp. We cannot do it without you!
