Bikes Bring Holiday Smiles to Children in Asbury Park

Kateri's connection with Asbury Park extends beyond the summer months, when many township children attend Kateri Day Camp through our campership program.  For years, the Kateri staff has teamed up with the Bicycle Hub of Marlboro to give bikes to youngsters in Asbury Park for the holidays, and this year was no exception.

Thirty-three bicycles were donated by Auction It New Jersey and the Bicycle Hub, and distributed to children and teens whose families had signed up through Mercy Center in Asbury Park.  Wally Tunison, owner of the Bicycle Hub, and his crew assembled the bikes and then helped deliver them to Mercy Center.  Smiles spread across the faces of parents as the bikes were unloaded from the truck, knowing that these gifts would make the holidays that much more special for their children.  One teenager had received a bicycle last year which was then stolen, so he was especially thrilled to receive a beautiful new mountain bike this year.
